During Sarah and Cody’s engagement session at Superstition Mountain, they shared their story with me! Let’s dive in:
“We met back in high school when we were about 16-17 years old. We went to neighboring high schools and had mutual friends who introduced us. We were friends for a few years before we started dating! We finally made it official right before I left home for college. We dated long-distance for three years and ten years total before getting engaged!”
“This summer was our ten-year dating anniversary. We wanted to celebrate and make it special (as much as we could during COVID!) so we drove to San Diego for a long weekend on the beach. On the date of our anniversary, we went out for a nice dinner at the resort and me being the cheesy person that I am, I decided we should name 10 things we love about each other for our 10 year anniversary! We got through 9 things before the end of the meal and decided to go take a walk on the beach after dinner. It was sunset hour and just beautiful. While we were walking along the beach, Cody said that he had come up with the tenth thing he loves about me. Next thing I know, he is down on one knee proposing! It was so special and meaningful that we got engaged exactly ten years since we started dating! So much has happened over the past ten years and it was truly special to celebrate the last ten years in this way.”
“My favorite adventure we have taken together was when we went to Mexico City last year for a week. It was our first international trip together and so much fun. We had been taking Spanish classes together and it was a fun challenge to put our skills to the test! We spent the week immersed in the Mexican culture: experiencing a Lucha Libre match, climbing Aztec pyramids, riding boats down a floating marketplace, and of course doing some tequila tasting! We had the best time together experiencing a new culture together and making memories that we will never forget.
We love to experience and learn new things together through traveling, being outdoors, and exploring our own community! We also love enjoying good food and drinks together and with friends. We love to be active together through running, hiking, and exercise. We also love spending quality time at home together with our cat (Mittens) and dog (Minnie) binge watching Netflix shows or the latest movies/documentaries. Basically, we just love being together and anything we do is always more fun when we do it together!”
Once COVID passes, they plan to begin thinking through their wedding day but for now – they’re simply enjoying this season of being engaged.
