There’s no better way to spend your trip to Arizona than with a sunrise Sedona anniversary session – from the early morning hike to watching the hot air balloons rise into the sky, it was absolutely a perfect adventure.
Zack and Emily met at their 7th grade orientation when their two schools were merging for middle school. Zack and Emily both wanted to “date”, but her mother told her she couldn’t because she didn’t need to start “drama” at her new school. They became best friends instead and finally started “dating” on January 17th, 2013 which was when they were in 11th grade and the rest was history!
Here’s how Zack later proposed: “We had talked about getting engaged before but I did not want to give Zack all these “rules”. All I ever told Zack was that I would love for someone, even if it was with a phone, to capture a picture so we could remember the moment always.
One day I received a message from our friend asking if we would be willing to do a “free” photo shoot so she could build her portfolio. I was SO excited because I LOVE taking pictures and having the pictures for memories. I called Zack to ask him his thoughts and he acted like it was the last thing he wanted to do but agreed to do it for me and our friend. On May 11th, 2018, we headed to a local nature trail for the photo shoot. I actually told Zack on the way to please act like he was happy to be there and to not do his “fake” smile. Meanwhile, Zack had the ring in his pocket and had planned this entire photo shoot on his own, solely to propose to me. We took pictures for an hour, if not longer, before the photographer told us to just “act natural” and do whatever felt comfortable. Zack grabbed my hands and started telling me how much he loved me. I was still oblivious. Next thing I know, he is reaching into his pocket for the ring. I actually told Zack to stop joking (he is a huge joker). I was completely shocked. I honestly feel like I blacked out during the rest of the proposal. the pictures are priceless and something we will forever cherish. It was perfect in every way.”
They tied the knot on May 24th, 2019 in Huntsville, Al at Burritt on the Mountain. Emily said: “The weather was perfect and so many of our friends and family came to celebrate with us. We got married outside by the gazebo, our food was inside, and we had our dance floor outside where it overlooked all of Huntsville. Zack and I both love the color blue, and his only request was that he could wear a navy blue suit, so our colors were white, silver, navy blue, and a lighter/slate blue color. I would literally relive that day every day of repeat.”
Their vacation out to Arizona is now one of their favorite memories together, with it being their first big vacation outside of their honeymoon. It was so incredible to meet up with them and hear all about their story.
