Michael and Lauren’s hiking elopement in Arizona at sunrise, was not their original plan. They had planned a big wedding inn Atlanta, but had to postpone to 2021 or 2022 due to COVID. They said: “Hindsight being 20/20, we both agree that we wish we would have decided to elope in the first place! We can’t imagine waiting another year or longer to get married so we want to keep our original date and do something for the two of us.” They’ve had SO many incredible memories together, including traveling internationally to Thailand and Japan, as well as planning an absolutely perfect proposal. Here’s there story:
After meeting at work several years prior, Michael later planned out his proposal to Lauren. She’s said: “Michael planned for my best friend (and MOH) and her husband to come to Tampa from Orlando. We went out to dinner and while we were gone, they prepared for the proposal. They set up tea lights and spelled out will you marry me? Also included rose petals, pez (my favorite candy), and dressed the dogs up in tuxedos. It was special because we bought this house together and have shared so many special memories here.”
Being from Florida, the two of them decided that Sedona, Arizona had all the views they were wanting for their elopement day. After waking up way before sunrise to get ready for their day together, we hiked up in the dark to an insanely epic location. They got dressed in their wedding attire at the top of a mountain, walked out to a cliff-edge and shared vows with one another. Michale and Lauren said: “Our favorite part of the day was the vows. Neither of us thought we were going to get emotional but we both did. Our vows ended up being very similar in terms of content and even structure. We both started out with jokes and things we knew would make each other laugh and ended them on a serious note.”
After sharing those intimate moments up on the cliff edge, we hiked back down and grabbed some brunch at a local restaurant before heading off to a winery. Once we ate our weight in calories, we met up at a vineyard where the two of them shared some wine tasting, listened to live music and walked up and down the rows of vines.
It was the most perfect, laid back elopement day full of variations in views and activities – this elopement in Arizona at sunrise was perfect.
