As a Sedona elopement photographer, Let me start out by saying this – if you want to have a Merry Go Round Rock engagement session, plan to to do some MAJOR off-roading. Not only is the road unpaved, but it has very large and uneven rocks that require some knowledge of how to drive over them. It’s a 3 mile long road but takes close to an hour to drive the entire thing! If you’re game for a bit of an adventure to get to this rad spot (like Courtney and Chris were for their engagement session!), then it’s the perfect location for you.
Once Chris, Courtney and I drove up the crazy road that leads to this Sedona viewpoint, we were greeted with the absolute most golden light and amazing views! It was a night for the books, without a doubt. Here’s their story:
After meeting in high school, Chris later proposed to Courtney while on a trip together. Here’s how it went down: “ We went on a 3 mile hike along the backbay coast of St. Maarten. Chris got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. It was an extremely private and intimate moment that we shared together atop the cliffside overlooking the ocean! That trip was originally a birthday trip that turned in to a surprise engagement. We spent 5 days on the French side and 5 days on the Dutch side of St. Maarten/St.Martin and we experienced so many fun and incredible times during our trip . We saw a lot of new things, got to do a lot of hiking, and got to relax and eat a lot of delicious food.”
Courtney and Chris love to hike together, workout, watch Netflix and cross destinations off of their bucket list (they may or may not even be planning a destination wedding at some point!). It’s safe to say that meeting up with them in Sedona to celebrate the two of them and their engagement, was a dang good time.
