I’ve known Emma for almost 6 years – she was in high school when we met. I began getting to know her through the student ministry program at our church where my husband worked at the time! When she reached out to me a few months back to book her Midwest fall engagement session, I was SO stoked since it had been over 4 years since we had seen one another! It was absolutely incredible to be able to catch up, chat about life and meet her now fiancé, David. Here’s their story:
How They Met:
“We met online about 4.5 years ago! We just talked for awhile but the first time we actually met we spent the weekend together at Purdue since I didn’t have a car and my school was two hours away at Indiana State. (Meaning he drove 4 hours total to either pick me up or drop me off to spend time with me! How sweet right?) By the end of that first weekend I knew I would marry this man someday!
Neither one of us saw a proposal coming! One night in February we were just hanging out at home, joking around, then he got this weird, super serious look on his face. He just pulled me close and looked into my eyes for a minute and then he just said “please marry me.” I really thought he was kidding, I think I asked him if he was serious about 100 times. To ensure me he was serious he went and got one of my favorite rings, as he hadn’t gotten one yet, and got down on a knee and said it again.”
Favorite Adventures and Future Wedding:
“While we’ve had a few trips on the books now, our favorite adventures are just spontaneous drives we go on. We either crank up the music or talk for hours, losing ourselves in woods and cornfields. When we first started dating he had a little red pickup truck we’d load pillows and blankets in and watch stars and sunsets from it on our drives before we’d start heading home.”
When it comes to wedding planning, Emma said: “I love small moments and colors and doing things our own way, while he is very traditional. We both love simplicity and having our families around, and we can’t wait to see how it all turns out!”
David and Emma spend a lot of time going on drives together watching comedies or true crime tv shows – they said that they try to take some quiet time every week to just be with each other without distractions, so that they can just talk and snuggle.”
These babes plan to visit the Smithsonian in DC at some point, and want to see as much of the world together as possible. I have every confidence that David and Emma are going to have some AMAZING stories to tell.
Cheers!
Allison
