Friends, you are in for such a treat. I had the incredible opportunity to meet and get connected with Ariel and Jared prior to visiting my family in Arizona. Once my husband and I flew down to Arizona, we all met up at Papago Park near the Phoenix Zoo to photograph some sweet, intimate images of the two of them and their relationship together. Ariel wore the most beautiful ivory, lace gown from Leah Maria Couture, paired with an incredible greenery crown and bouquet from The Flower Girl Events. Jared paired perfectly with Ariel, wearing an ivory button down, green suspenders, an olive bow tie and khaki pants. They were such a perfect vision of a bride and groom. Papago Park in Phoenix, Arizona was a gorgeous setting for my time with the two of them – there’s red rock mountains, cacti all around and a small pond surrounded by good ‘ole Arizona palm trees. Being a wedding and elopement photographer based in St. Louis, I was in location heaven! If you don’t already think it sounds dreamy, just wait until you hear a little about their love story. Ariel gave me all the details about how she met Jared, the story of his two proposals, their special moments and what they love to do together. Read the details below!
Ariel met Jared in a small town in Idaho – they had just gotten out of relationships at the time and weren’t exactly back in the market yet. Nevertheless, they met and clearly had an impression on one another, being now that they are married and happy as can be with two little ones. When it came time that Jared decided he wanted to marry Ariel, he proposed not only one time, but two! Here’s Ariels story of his two proposals:
“The first was in the hospital. He had gone snowboarding and had fallen, landing on his wrist while trying to do some sweet tricks, haha! He ended up in the hospital and I was in the waiting room. They wouldn’t let me back because I was “just the girlfriend” He explained he was going to propose, just didn’t have the ring yet. He then found out he had to go into emergency surgery because he had broken his wrist and all of the bones in his hand had dislocated, so they needed to fix it or else he would have no movement in his hand and wrist. He was sitting in his hospital gown when I finally was let into the room to know what all was taking place and he took off his ring that he wore during his church mission and sweetly told me “I don’t have the ring I wanted, but I can’t go through this without knowing that you’ll be there waiting for me when I wake up.” (how romantic!!) No, he wasn’t on drugs yet, but he confided he was so scared to die. Long story short I stayed at the hospital and at around 3 am they brought him in. The first thing he says is “There she is nurse! She’s going to be my wife!”
She goes on to say…
“The second proposal was on top of a mountain. Literally. We hiked up to this lake in Glenwood Springs Canyon called Hanging lake when he came to see me in Colorado. We asked this sweet lady to take our picture because at the time you could walk out onto a tree into the middle of the lake. He got down and proposed to me in the middle of the lake! (He is still such a romantic!)”
Friends, how sweet is Ariel and Jared’s love story?! I am just so sucked into it, into telling their story and about how Jared professed his desire to marry Ariel not only one time, but two. Ariel said that the two of them love to watch movies, shoot shot guns, go furniture and electronic shopping and snuggle. I know guys, my heart is melting too!!
Two of their most memorable moments together have been when they had each of their daughters because it was “us creating our own family and our own “little kingdom” as we like to say,” Ariel said to me.
Like I said before, you all are in for a real treat as you look through these images of Ariel and Jared. Their love for one another is undeniable. Telling their story has been such a joy – even reliving the warm, Arizona sun through these images I photographed has been incredible considering I’m now back in St. Louis with a forecast of snow for the weekend.
I so enjoyed being Ariel and Jared’s photographer – Now, you go enjoy it for yourself as you look through these desert, elopement images.
