Today, I have the sweetest Saguaro Lake Surprise Proposal story to share with you. Instead of sharing it from my point of view, you’re going to hear alllll about it straight from the bride and groom to-be. Grab a tissue box and let’s dive in!
Bri told me that they met in high school! “He was an upperclassmen, so when he slid into my facebook DMs I was beyond excited. I checked out his profile, instantly thought he was a cutie, and proceeded to message him back and forth. We ultimately decided to meet up at the mall – stranger danger apparently wasn’t an issue to me because I thought he was cute. I was nervous. I remember putting a lot of effort into my hair and outfit. I got to the mall – and I was freaking out. I remember showing up in the food court and seeing him; he was sitting there casually eating a pretzel. I thought about maybe walking up to him and starting a conversation…but instead, I let him finish his pretzel. We did a couple laps around the mall, just talking about random things and what we both liked and disliked. We ended up at his house, talking in his backyard. Our date was short lived as he received a phone call from a friend who needed some assistance, so he had to end our date. Come to find out a few years down the road that he actually called that friend to get him out of our date because I made him nervous!” Scott then said that “We went on one date in high school and it was the only one. LOL. Fast forward 4 years later, I had just return from outside the country and transferred to a new university here in Arizona. Scrolling through facebook, I saw a photo of Briana (absolutely gorgeous) that captioned that she just got into the nursing program at the same University. I messaged her on Facebook, we connected and talked for a bit, arranged to go on our first (second) date, and it was history from there.”
Friends, listen to this: I asked Scott what his favorite adventure has been with Bri so far – here’s what he said: “To be honest, this whole relationship has been an adventure. But if I had to choose one, it would have to be our first road trip to Pinetop, Arizona. She wouldn’t agree with me on this one, but I learned a lot about her that trip and I think that is where the romance truly blossomed. Quick story, we were riding on my parent’s razor (off-road vehicle) through the forest, when I decided to let her drive. She was very cautious, and I made fun of her for it. So she decided to be adventurous and take a fast turn on some snowy ground. We ended up flipping the razor and being lost in the forest for a while. Although stressful, those were moments where I saw her in her most vulnerable state. I truly learned that I loved her not only for her positive attributes, but the negative ones as well.”
When Scott reached out to me saying that he wanted me to take pictures of his surprise proposal to Bri, we dove head-first in creating a plan that would throw her off from the REAL reason why I would be taking pictures of the two of them. Here’s Bri’s thoughts on our plan: “From what Scott told me, we were doing a “styled photoshoot” with Allison, who is a friend of his that he’s known since middle school. I got super dressed up and picked out like 4 different outfits. He told me where we were going but mentioned nothing about the fact that he was about to ask me to marry him. We arrived to our session, took a few pics with Allison, and the next thing you know Scott had run off somewhere, to go ‘find our videographer friend’ that was supposedly scouting the area for other spots. At that point it was just me and Allison. I had suspicions that maybe he was going to propose, only because I had been made aware that a videographer was going to be there, though they claimed it was to see how they would work together for future gigs. After a few minutes of casual pictures with Allison I started to think, “Ok, he’s probably not doing it today and I’m probably just imagining things”. Once we walked over to where Scott had disappeared to, he was down on one knee and asking me to marry him. BEST DAY EVER.”
Guys, I’m going to end it with this surprise proposal story – I asked Bri and Scott what they most love and appreciate about one another. Here’s what they said:
Bri: “ Something I truly love about Scott is that although we’ve been together for 3 years, he still surprises me. Whether I am having a bad day at work or simply not feeling well, he is always so kind, patient, and caring. There have been times where I have told Scott that my day SUCKED – to the point of me being in tears, and I have walked out of work to my car and he’s standing there with a Starbucks waiting for me. On my birthday, he has surprised me first thing in the morning with fresh roses, balloons, some sort of coffee, and a present. There have been times where he has surprised me at work with lunch or brownies. I am so lucky to call Scott my fiancé and also my best friend. He is always down for lazy days just sitting on the couch watching movies, or going out to Texas Roadhouse and stuffing our faces with bread rolls. I cannot wait to see what our marriage has in store for us and to continue to grow together as a couple.”
Scott: “I appreciate her passion and ambition in life. It is what attracted me most when we started dating. It first started with her dream of becoming a nurse. Then it turned into becoming an established photographer. Now, she has ambitions of being the best wife and mother. It doesn’t stop there, she is now talking about going back to school for her masters and teaching other future nurses. There is no ceiling for what this woman can accomplish.”
To say I’m excited and thrilled for these two is such an understatement. SO stoked for Bri and Scott – congratulations, you guys.
