I’m about to hit you with a beautiful and incredible story; the story of Ankur and Bhumi. Their story that you’re about to read, all lead up to Ankur’s Scottsdale proposal at El Chorro to Bhumi only two weeks ago! Ready to dive in? Let’s go!
How They Met
ANKUR: “Bhumi and I started dating in March of this year. Bhumi’s older sister, Rishma, set us up. I know Rishma’s husband and on a random Thursday evening I decided to meet them and a few other friends up at a Game of Thrones themed bar. After some friendly conversation she thought it would be a good idea to introduce us. Bhumi and I started talking the next day. She took a leap and visited me first in Chicago after just a couple of weeks of talking.”
BHUMI: “Many people would like to take credit for introducing us but it all happened because Ankur decided to go to a Game of Thrones pop up bar one night. There were many mutual friends at the bar just enjoying the night with good laughs, cocktails and food. Ankur was in an area surrounded by all the female friends. Conversations started as the women asked about his dating life in Chicago. Ankur had mentioned it wasn’t going as well but still looking to meet someone. That was the only signal Rishma (my sister) needed to jump in and show pictures of me to Ankur. Rishma soon began talking with Ankur and mentioning that I was also single and looking for someone as well. Ankur looked at her pictures and wanted to start talking to me. That night Ankur got my number and messaged on Facebook messenger (like who uses Facebook anymore). I woke up to a funny message the next morning and decided to message him back. After many text messages and phone calls later, we give credit to Game of Thrones for bringing us together.”
Ankur said” “I leaned on her sisters a lot. I wanted it to be special and unforgettable so who better to share ideas and get feedback from, right? Bhumi thought that we were going to meet in Phoenix on Tuesday but little did she know what I had planned. I surprised her on Sunday at her house in NY and from there we enjoyed a brunch with some of her close friends and family in the city. Because of this, we got to travel to Phoenix together on Tuesday.
Her younger sister shared images of the engagement ring she wanted so I had it custom made. I decided to propose on 11/12 because she was born on 11/11 and her mom was born on 12/12. After a few locations fell through, and with the help of Allison, I was so happy to find that El Chorro was exactly what I was looking for. Before heading to El Chorro, I had Bhumi change into a beautiful dress (picked out with the help of her sisters of course). I was nervous but the words flowed out effortlessly and she said yes. We enjoyed the rest of the week in Sedona and flew back to Chicago on Saturday where her dad and younger sister surprised her by hiding in Rishma’s room. Both families met later that evening for an intimate dinner filled with laughter, love, and appreciation for being able to share this special time together with all our loved ones.”
Bhumi then shared her side, and said: “We went on this trip to have a mini getaway. Little did I know Ankur surprised me which a gorgeous white gown and silver heels to match! Once he showed me the dress I had to ask if he was taking me to Vegas so we can get married at the Little Chapel! He said he had a birthday surprise for me and all I kept thinking was to make sure my makeup and hair looked great. During our drive to my surprise, he had asked what I thought it was. I thought it may be a fine dining experience or maybe a helicopter ride. He walked me down a path from the restaurant overlooking Camelback mountain. I heard love songs playing the whole time. I was so in love with this moment, the place, the man in front of me.
Best part of the proposal was hearing my soul mate sharing everything he felt about us over the time we spent together. It was like listening to a love poem. The words shared from unconditional love. I am truly so lucky to be blessed with a man who makes me so happy.”
Their Wedding Vision
These babes having began thinking through their upcoming wedding day, and said that they can’t wait to do their food and cake tasting because they both love food and enjoying new flavors! Here’s a few of the things that’s on their ‘must have’ list for their wedding day:
Bhumi also said: “I love how family oriented and caring Ankur is. He is so patient and loving to everyone. Ankur has such a big heart and forever gives to everyone which makes me feel so blessed. I appreciate so much about him but I have to say he will always make sure everyone is happy around him.”
Ankur told me: “What I love most about Bhumi is her sweet, caring, loving personality. She goes out of her way to make everyone around her feel comfortable. She can have fun anywhere and anytime and it just brightens up even the worst days.”
I’m SO ridiculously excited for Bhumi and Ankur and am so honored by them sharing their story and asking me to be a part of their beautiful proposal!
