Get ready to see the most epic Sedona engagement session, and to read the absolute sweetest love story. Raquel and Nick met 4 years ago at Faith Church in St. Louis. Raquel was a worship leader there and Nick was just attending the church. They became friends, and Nick became close with her family and brother. Due to timing of other relationships, they never had the chance to actually date. Raquel and Nick said that it wasn’t until December 2018 that God’s timing made their relationship a reality!
Here’s how Nick proposed to Raquel:
“Raquel’s family and I had a family vacation planned for Cabo in March of 2019. Leading up to it, I planned it all out and was ready to go. Funny side story on the trip to Cabo: while Raquel was laying across my lap on the plane, little did she know that I was holding the ring box open right in front of her face. Everyone across the seats of the plane was laughing. I then proposed to her in the airport with a fake box also. Which all leads to the actual proposal story.
The first day in Cabo we went around the whole property of the community we were staying at. While we were touring the whole property and the main steakhouse at Quivira Golf Club, I pulled the hostess aside and set up the reservations and everything for that night at sunset. All while Raquel was over loving the views and taking pictures of little did she know, the exact spot she was going to get proposed to a few hours later.
Once it was all set up, we went back to the house to get ready. She kept wanting to under dress for the dinner, but everyone kept telling her to dress up and it will be fun to get pictures where we were at earlier today. Because she didn’t like the comfy clothes pictures from earlier. While she was getting ready, I was a nervous wreck. I got all dressed up and went out by the pool to begin praying. I prayed for this day my whole life, and it finally was here.
Off to the steakhouse we go. Once we arrive we immediately set our stuff down at the table and back to the spot from earlier on the lawn overlooking the beach and Pacific Ocean. Up first for pictures was Chris and Rachel. Then I told Mom and Dad to go so they could all get their pictures before the big moment, knowing once we started our pictures, no one else would have a chance.
However, the lighting and setting were perfect and Raquel was starting to get frustrated that she wasn’t getting hers at that exact moment lol. So Mom n Dad had to wait and the time had come.
We started our pictures and I was doing my best to not have her feel the ring box in my suit jacket pocket. Once we got through some photos I got down on one knee and popped the question. However, I had to pull her back over to me because she thought I was joking again lol. This time though, it wasn’t a joke. I was asking the love of my life to begin a journey with me forever. Once she gathered herself from the amazing sparkle of the ring, she said YES! The next 45 minutes we took pictures, cried, and took more pictures. Finally we set down to eat, which Raquel was too excited to do. Me on the other hand, got the Diamond Margarita and enjoyed the dinner. We proceeded to call our families that weren’t there and inform them of the news.
After which, we made our first social media post. We had kept our whole relationship private and never posted or told anyone of it. This caught everyone by surprise. Best way ever.
Quivira Golf Club will always hold a very special place in our heart.”
