Chris and Alexis drove over from Las Vegas for their Superstition Mountain engagement session and holy cow did we have a blast. They told me all about their story – how they met, got engaged and their upcoming wedding! Here’s it is:
How They Met
“Chris and I met at a party about 5 years ago, but were both dating different people. The only real memory I have of meeting him was him showing a group of us his tattoos – which happen to go down from the top of his back to the bottom of his thighs – so the photo was his entire backside (yes, tattooed butt included).
We reconnected a few years later when he was living in Colorado, but only because I wanted to hook him up with one of my closest friends who also lived in CO. We ended up becoming good friends after that and kept in touch. I dated other people, so did he.
It wasn’t until later that him and I actually started to talk as more than friends. One of the biggest things that shifted for me was the fact that he had an incredible vision for his life and we both wanted the same things. However, he wasn’t in a place where he was ready to jump in a relationship, which I respected! I went about my life – we stayed in touch a bit – but I started dating someone else. Long story short, I realized the guy I ended up breaking up with that guy and told Chris in a phone conversation. After some decoding of what he was actually asking me (lol), he told me that he didn’t want me to date anyone else and I should be dating him :)”
“We had gone to LA to design a ring in May, so I knew it was close! However, I still think when you get proposed to, it’s an out-of-body experience. We went to Hotel Del Coronado with his twin brother, his wife, and their parents for Chris and his twin’s 30th birthday, which was AMAZING.
He was oddly cool, calm and collected and forgot his nice camera – so I didn’t think this was the weekend. After dinner on the first night (and note it was a LARGE dinner), he asked me if I wanted to go on a walk around the hotel; being extremely full, I was not having it. It’s funny in retrospect because he kept making up reasons to go downstairs and walk around, and finally I gave in.
We went down to the main courtyard, which is so beautiful, and he wanted to go sit on a bench – also out of character seeing it was almost 11p and way past his bed time. There was no one around, just him and I, and he started rambling (totally adorable and confusing), and then basically got down on one knee and I think I blacked out… and so did he 🙂 I just remember him saying “If you marry me, you’ll never have to settle.” Obviously, I said yes! It was so nice just being us two – no cameras or surprise party. We then tried to call a bunch of our loved ones and most were sleeping. The best part was waking up the next morning to tell everyone and to celebrate by taking a boat out in the San Diego Bay!”
Their Future Plans and Adventures
Chris and Alexis love to be outdoors. They love to workout together and to go to new restaurants. The two of them also love to dream-build, going to look at amazing homes, etc. Chris and Alexis are also building a business together, so in turn they can build their life together! Alexis said: “That is our greatest adventure. It hasn’t been a vacation or trip – it’s every single day, running hand in hand, overcoming and building our future.” One day they hope to own a lake home, and have their family there every year for the 4th of July!
I’m so stoked for these two – I KNOW they have an incredible future ahead of them and I can’t wait for them to begin their journey as husband and wife.
