Silas and Taylor’s surprise proposal in Sedona at Cathedral Rock was the sweetest moment to be a part of. When Taylor booked me for a fun adventure session with her boyfriend of 7 years, she had NO idea it would begin with a proposal. As we were hiking up to this spot, Taylor had literally just said that she didn’t think they would be getting engaged anytime soon, let alone on their trip out to Arizona.
As soon as Silas got down on one knee and asked Taylor to marry him, all she could say was “Are you serious right now, is this for real?!” – needless to say, the rest of their adventure session was filled with so much excitement and joy. Here’s their story:
Taylor said: “We have been dating for a little over 7 years! We actually met on Twitter! I had a twitter account that was anonymous (not my personal account, it was weird but it was a thing back in the day haha) and he dm’d me! I brushed him off the first time he dm’d me but then the second time he dm’d me I went to his profile and saw his high school senior pictures and I was like “DANGGGG you are cute” so then I decided he wasn’t a weirdo and actually talked to him hahaha. We went on our first date at a little country bar/restaurant and saw Cole Swindell before anyone really knew who he was! Then we played hide and seek in Walmart for a couple of hours and we stood in my driveway talking for a few hours. It was January and I was FREEZING (being in Michigan) but I was waiting for him to kiss me and he was too nervous to do it. It truly took him a couple hours of standing in freezing temperatures in my driveway to finally make a move and when he went in for the kiss he missed my mouth hahaha. We still laugh about it to this day! After that the rest is history.”
They said: “I totally did not think we’d be getting engaged during our session! I booked photos with Allison so that Si & I could have amaaazing photos to put on our walls once we move in together but he had other plans! We kept saying that we weren’t going to engaged until we lived together for awhile so I was completely unsuspecting of the whole thing! Si emailed Allison before our pictures letting her know that he was planning on proposing. Allison guided him with the perfect plan that left me totally shocked! Our original date got rained out so we moved pictures to the following day and the weather was absolutely PERFECT! We were SO excited to go on a hike and couldn’t wait to start hiking up Cathedral Rock! After changing and getting a few photos, we walked out on the edge of Cathedral Rock and Allison said to “take in the view.” Si and I were taking in the view and then he grabbed me and said “You’re my best friend and I love you so much…” and got down on one knee. I honestly blacked out and that’s all I heard him say. I don’t even remember him saying the words “will you marry me” because I couldn’t stop crying and felt like I was in a dream! I had to ask him afterwards if I even said yes hahaha. After the session we spent way too much money at an Irish pub and then we couldn’t sleep at alllllll because we were too dang excited!!! I am still crying happy tears and don’t think I’ve ever cried so many happy tears in my life. It was the most perfect day ever and I can’t believe he did all of that!!”
Taylor said: “The best part about the proposal was that it felt like just us two there. Even though there were some other people around the rest of the world went dark and it was only Si and I, me sobbing on the edge of the cliff and him down on one knee. It was like we were the last people on earth. I have never felt anything like that whatsoever and I just can’t explain the feeling! I was 110% surprised!!! I could NOT believe what was happening and I can still barely even process it! Si played it so well by saying we wouldn’t get engaged anytime soon and I fully believed him!! I am now in a constant state of shock haha”
Every moment of their evening was stunning, emotional and absolutely breathtaking. I can’t wait for the two of them to officially get married!!
