She grew up in Germany but relocated to the United States a few years ago. She’s also the only one that lives out of the country and that speaks English fluently in her family.
He was born and raised in St. Louis, doesn’t speak German and lives near a lot of his family here in Missouri.
When Clarissa moved temporarily to St. Louis for her job a few years ago, she met Adam and decide to stick around for good (to hear the whole ‘how we met’ story, click here). They later got engaged at the same location of their first date after going ring shopping together, being Clarissa’s favorite parts of their proposal!
The day before Clarissa and Adam’s wedding, they had a porcelain party! It’s a German tradition where their loved ones break porcelain at the newlyweds house for good luck. For their wedding, many of Clarissa’s family came from Germany to be a part of the celebration. Her Mom and Sister helped Clarissa into her gown the morning of their wedding after having selected it together in Germany. After Adam and Clarissa shared a first look together in front of an ivy-covered wall in St. Louis, they traveled to their wedding ceremony at The Ruins in Tower Grove Park where their Fathers took turns saying selected pieces in both German and English, and a translator relaying in German the exchanging of rings and vows.
Their reception took place at Piper Palm House where sweet, tear-filled speeches were shared in English and German. They then danced the night away together amidst the lush greenery of their venue.
Their day was truly SO unique and so neat to be a part of. I loved seeing the families work to break the language barrier and celebrate Adam and Clarissa’s wedding day.
