Lauren and Austin’s incredible cliffside intimate wedding in sedona was filled to the brim with sunshine, incredible views and the best of moments between the two of them. Here’s their story:
“Austin and I met through Facebook of all places….we have no idea how we even became friends on Facebook because we had no mutual friends at all, but one day out of the blue Austin messaged me. He was in the army living in Georgia at the time and was getting out in a few weeks and moving back home to Ohio where I was living, so he asked if he could take me out when he got back. He also prefaced this by telling me that he was going on a 4 month hike across the Appalachian Trail….so I thought, “Thus will be safe; I’ll go out on a date, have fun, and then I won’t get attached because he’ll be leaving, no feelings involved”…..wrong. Through a series of events, Austin decided to come off the trail and move back to Ohio to cultivate our relationship and pursue life here. Needless to say, I’m so glad he made that decision because it led us to where we are today!”
“Since we’ve been dating, I’ve saved one single rose from every bouquet that Austin has given me and I dried each one out and saved them all. Each one had a tag on it saying the date he gave it to me and what the occasion was, whether it be a month anniversary or “just because.” Austin took all of these roses and put them in a beautiful vase filled with twinkling lights and added one fresh rose, writing on that tag “November 14, 2020: the day he asked me to be his wife.” He took me on a “walk” at a park near my house and had these roses set on a rock surrounded by rose petals and got down on one knee and proposed. Our parents were hiding in the woods watching and capturing the whole thing on camera, and they came out afterwards for all the hugs and congratulations!”
“We wanted the focus of our wedding day to be God, family, and us-focused. Instead of throwing a party for our wedding, we wanted an intimate exchange of vows and a hiking adventure to make our day truly special and tailored to the two of us.”
“We both fell in love with the beautiful red rocks of Sedona when visiting to look for wedding venues. The views that are around every corner and the way that the light shines on the rock at sunset solidified for us that this was the place we wanted to make our lifelong commitment to one another. We can’t wait to come back to Sedona for years to come to remember the best day of our lives.”
Our sunset hike was by far the best part of our elopement day. It gave us time to step away and be just the two of us, soaking in the excitement of the fact that we had just become husband and wife. There is absolutely nothing that can compare to standing on the edge of a red rock mountain in Sedona, Arizona with the love of your life in a wedding dress and feeling those serene, intimate moments together.
